WPI Men's Cross Country Wins WNEC Invitational
Springfield, MA --- Junior Kevin
Jillson’s (East Sandwich, MA) second place finish
(27:16) helped WPI take home the championship at the WNEC
Invitational on Saturday morning. The Engineers had five teammates
finish in the top ten as they scored 28 points in a 14-team
field.
The team championship was the third straight this fall for the
Crimson and Gray.
Sophomore Chris Gabrielson (Westford, MA) crossed
the line third (27:26), while senior Isaiah Janzen (27:59) finished
fifth. Senior Chris McCann (Haverhill, MA) placed
eighth with a time of 28:27 and sophomore Peter
Brown (Andover, MA) finished tenth overall (28:43).
Eugene Douglass (Concord, NH, 29:05),
Keith Flanders (Westford, MA, 29:34 ), and
Daniel Duffty (Haverhill, MA, 29:42) finished the
8k race in 12th, 15th, and 18th places respectively.
WPI hits the trail again in two weeks when they will travel to
Smith for the NEWMAC Championships. The meet will start at
11am.
