Springfield, MA --- Junior Meghan Woods (Hanover, MA) crossed the finish line in third place with a time of 20:24 as WPI took home a second place finish at the Western New England Invitational on Saturday afternoon. The Engineers lost the top spot to city-rival Clark as they scored 84 points overall in the 14-team field.

Sophomore Beth Haggerty (Springfield, MA) finished in 14th place (21:54) and freshman Michelle Maurice (Walcott, CT) placed 17th with a time of 22:10. Junior Marissa Gray (Stanley, NY) finished the 5k race in 25th (22:36) and senior Catie Casey (Plymouth, MA) rounded out the top five for the Engineers in 26th place (22:39). Junior Jen Keating (Winchester, MA, 22:57) and sophomore Anne Riocheleau (Shrewsbury, MA, 23:27) also finished in 30th and 42nd places, respectively.

WPI’s next meet is scheduled in two weeks, when they will travel to Smith for the NEWMAC Championships. The starting gun will sound at 11am (subject to change).
