Mens Cross Country Places Third at Engineers Cup

Springs, NY --- WPI Cross Country began its 2009 season on Saturday
at the Engineers Cup 8k hosted by Rensselaer. WPI finished in third
place while MIT earned the Engineers Cup for the second straight
year.
Senior Dan Duffty (Haverhill, MA) paced the
Crimson and Gray, taking home a fourth-place finish at 27:12.
Peter Brown (Andover, MA) was the next WPI runner
to cross the line, taking 10th at 27:35, while Lane
Thorton (Richmond, VT) finished close behind in 15th at
27:49. Todd Alexander (Foxboro, MA) was 17th
finishing the 8k course in an even 28:00.
Craig Mitchell (Hanson, MA) (23rd; 28:17),
Christopher Gabrielson (Westford, MA) (25th,
28:34) and Shane Ruddy (Seneca Falls, NY) (26th,
28:36) rounded out the top seven for the Engineers.
WPI hits the trail again on Saturday when they compete at the UMass
Dartmouth Invitational beginning at 10:30am.
