Men's XC Places NEWMAC-High Nine on All-Academic Team

Babson Park, MA --- For the second consecutive year, a NEWMAC-best nine WPI men's cross country student-athletes have been named to the conference's All-Academic Team. The 2009 honorees include seniors Dan Duffty (Haverhill, MA), Greg Kinneman (North Andover, MA), and Kurtis McCannell (Monmouth, ME), juniors Todd Alexander (Foxboro, MA), Alex Meyer (Jericho, VT), Lane Thornton (Richmond, VT) and Scott Woodnorth (Whitefish Bay, WI) and sophomores Billy Hawkins (Dartmouth, MA) and Greg McConnell (Georgia, VT).
Duffty and McCannell both took home the honor for the third straight year while Kinneman, Alexander, Meyer and Woodnorth all turned the trick for the second consecutive season.
Honorees must have met the following criteria: earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5/4.0 scale or 4.35/5.0 scale after the 2009 spring semester, achieved second year academic status at her institution, and been a member of the varsity team for the entire season.
The New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference consists
of 10 highly selective institutions committed to academic
excellence: Babson College, Clark University, U.S Coast Guard
Academy, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Mount Holyoke
College, Smith College, Springfield College, Wellesley College,
Wheaton College, and Worcester Polytechnic Institute.
WPI will be back in action on Saturday, November 14th when they
compete in the NCAA Regionals at Southern Maine. The race is
slated for a 11am start.
