Winship Top 50, Men’s Cross Country 13th at D3 New Englands

Gorham, ME --- Senior Tristam Winship (Bedford, NH) ran to a top 50 finish to guide WPI to a 13th-place showing at the NCAA Division III New England Cross Country Championships hosted by Southern Maine at the Gorham Country Club.

MIT (81) and Amherst (91) earn the region's automatic team berths to next week's NCAA Division III Championships. The Engineers, who entered the race as the 10th-ranked team in New England, meanwhile posted 403 points.

Winship handed in a 45th-place 26:20.1 while sophomore Tom Hanlon (Derry, NH), sophomore Jake Scarponi (Barrington, NH), junior Michael Brady (Medway, MA), and sophomore Avery Ingegneri (Warwick, RI) also delivered top 100 times. Hanlon was 78th (26:52), Scarponi was 91st (27:01.1), Brady was 92nd (27:03.7) and Ingegneri was 97th (27:07.7).

Junior Matt Rabasco (Pittsfield, MA) registered a time of 27:34.3 and senior Justin Trott (North Hampton, NH) clocked a 28:08.3.
