Former standout Sam Casey returned to Boynton Hill in 2022 to coach the defensive backs and serve as the defensive coordinator after performing the same duties at Fitchburg State the prior two seasons.

Casey was a standout player from the Class of 2020, earning All-East, All-NEWMAC and All-Worcester Area honors following his senior season in 2019 when the Engineers shared the NEWMAC championship for the first time in program history and won its second New England Bowl Series game in three years.  The defensive back amassed 189 tackles, including 10 for loss, eight interceptions, and 10 pass breakups during his four-year career.

Casey graduated with distinction from WPI in 2020 with a degree in management engineering, a concentration in operations management, and a minor in industrial engineering.  He was the co-founder and Vice President of the WPI chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA).
