WORCESTER – The WPI men's basketball team saw four players record double figures led by 15 points from Colin McNamara (Arlington, MA) as the Engineer pulled away in the second half for a 75-57 victory over Clark this afternoon in NEWMAC action.

With the win, WPI improves to 14-3 on the season and 5-1 in the NEWMAC, while the Cougars slip to 8-9 with the loss and are now 3-3 in league action.  The game was originally schedule to be played on Boynton Hill but a needed repair in Harrington Auditorium necessitated the chance of venue and, as a result, the two teams will now play at WPI instead of Clark on Wednesday, February 5th.

McNamara connected on 5-of-10 from the floor in the game en route to his 15 and added six rebounds and an assist.   Jake Wisniewski (West Brookfield, MA) chipped in with 14 points and seven rebounds, while Kahleb Downing (Middletown, CT) added 13 points on 4-of-8 for the field and added three boards and two assists.  John Lowther (Hingham, MA) just missed a double-double for the Engineers with 12 points and nine boards including six on the defensive glass.

It marked the third straight game the quartet has all reached double figures in scoring for the Engineers, who are receiving votes in the most recent D3hoops.com Top 25.

Clark was paced by 18 points, three rebounds and four assists from Biko Gayman (Fort Pierce, FL). Gayman connected on 7-of-13 from the floor.  Tyler Davern (Webster, MA) was the only other Cougar with double figures as he scored 11 points with seven boards.

The first half was back and forth with five ties and seven lead changes.  Tied 21-21 with 8:18 on the clock in the first, the Engineers rattled off an 8-2 run taking a 29-23 lead with just over five on the clock.

Just over a minute later, Clark tied the game for the final time, 29-29, after back-to-back threes.  WPI closed the half with a 9-3 run that featured four points from Wisniewski as they took the lead for good and led 38-32 at the half.

WPI came out in the second half and pushed the lead to 45-34 with just under 18 minutes on the clock.

The visitors would lead by as many as 13 before Clark cut the lead to seven, 62-55, on a three by Charles Stephens (Bronx, NY) with 4:44 on the clock.  WPI quickly extended the lead to 20, 75-55, before securing the 75-57 victory.

WPI heads to Western Mass on Wednesday for a 7:30pm match-up with Springfield.  Clark closes outs a three-game road trip on Wednesday at 7pm at MIT.
