West Windsor, NJ --- Competing in the first-ever Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) Division III Championship, WPI men's rowing's varsity eight collected a sixth-place finish in the grand final late Saturday morning on Mercer Lake in West Windsor, New Jersey.

For the second day in a row the seventh-ranked Engineers were in Lane 6 and jumped out quickly, posting a time of 1:26.130 to again reach the 500-meter buoys in second place.  The second quarter of the race saw WPI post a time of 1:31.850 and sit in fifth place midway to the finish.   The Crimson and Gray registered nearly identical splits of 1:33.120 and 1:33.907 over the last two 500-meter pieces to place sixth in a time of 6:05.007, nearly 2 1/2 seconds faster than in lane-placement race time a day earlier.
