Farrell, Nemes and Finzel Do Their Job in Men’s Soccer Victory at Emerson

Boston, MA --- Senior Matt Farrell (Groveland, MA) and junior Brendan Nemes (Kingston, MA) scored a pair of first half goals in a 2-0 WPI win at Emerson Saturday in a NEWMAC men's soccer matchup at Rotch Field.

Nemes netted his team-best sixth goal of the season in the 14th minute for what proved to be the game-winner. Farrell deposited his fourth of the year off an assist by freshman Charles Sanderson (Hadley, MA) in the 34th minute. Junior Jordan Finzel (Northport, NY) stopped four shots in his first clean sheet of the season.

Junior Lucas Fischer (Atlanta, GA) stopped five for Emerson as sophomore Max DeLuca (Rockland, MA) and senior Elias Romanos (Sherman Oaks, CA) each took a trio of attempts to go with a pair by sophomore Tyler Yassky (Nyack, NY).

In all, WPI had the advantage in shots (15-11) and shots on-goal (7-4) while corners were even at three apiece.

The Engineers (7-1-2, 2-1 NEWMAC) entertain Wentworth Wednesday at 7pm. Emerson (2-7, 0-3 NEWMAC) hosts Coast Guard Saturday at 1pm.
