WORCESTER – MIT scored two first half goals in a 2-0 victory at WPI in a NEWMAC men's soccer matchup at Alumni Stadium.
With the win, MIT (2-6 NEWMAC) concludes its season with a 6-10-1 ledger and WPI (2-4-1) wraps up its campaign at 9-4-4.
Junior Nate Johnson (Sudbury, MA) sent a cross 30-yards to senior Kareem Itani (Dallas, TX), who drilled the ball to the bottom left of the net at 32:27. Junior Gregory Hui (Alameda, CA) dribbled a feed, from sophomore Garrett Souza (Chino Hills, CA), into the box and found the bottom left in the 38th minute.
Both sides registered three shots on goal. Itani and Hui were the only two members of the Cardinal and Gray to register a shot as junior Pav Christidis (Fairport, NY), Chapman, and junior Reese Petersen (Springfield, NJ) all took aim for the Crimson and Gray.
Freshman Jeremy Cowham (Quincy, MA) stopped all three shots he faced while junior Connor Hoeckele (Granby, CT) halted one.
Despite the result, WPI had the advantages in shots (6-5) and corner kicks (3-1).
