Ciliberto Fuels Men’s Soccer’s Early Outburst to Sink UMass Dartmouth

Frank Ciliberto

WORCESTER -- Senior Frank Ciliberto (Spencerport, NY) scored two of WPI's three goals within the first 10 minutes as Men's Soccer topped UMass Dartmouth, 4-1, in a non-conference meeting Saturday afternoon in Alumni Stadium.

Ciliberto found the back of the net at 2:13 and again at 9:26. The initial goal was setup by senior Spencer Ralphs (Simsbury, CT) and the second was a cross from junior Brandon Hima (Watertown, CT), who had scored at 7:37 with help from Ralphs. The Corsairs dented the scoreboard less than a minute later as senior Joao Correia (Peabody, MA) knocked home a centering pass from freshman Dylan Danneker (Mansfield, MA) at 10:08. WPI junior Matt Mulligan (Hebron, CT) made it a 4-1 game with 6:12 left in the first half.

Sophomore goalkeeper Rufus Adams (Duxbury, MA) improved to 2-0 while his counterpart, freshman Chris Moussavi (Bellmore, NY) stopped five for the guests.

In all, the Engineers took 12 of the 14 shots and were awarded all five corner kicks – all in the second half.

WPI (2-0) travels to Wesleyan Wednesday for a 7:30 match and UMass Dartmouth (0-2) heads to MIT for a 7pm contest.
