Team Huddle

WORCESTER – Sophomore Ryan Miller (Hillsdale, NJ) scored 34 seconds into overtime to lift Roger Williams past WPI, 1-0, in a non-conference men's soccer match Wednesday night inside Alumni Stadium.

The Hawks, who are fourth in the region and receiving votes in the national United Soccer Coaches poll, remain perfect at 10-0 while the Engineers, the fifth-ranked team on the regional scroll, dip to 5-2-2.

Miller headed home a pass from junior Colby Decker (Colchester, CT) to send Roger Williams home with the victory. Earlier in the contest, Decker had the best chance of the first half as he evaded a pair of defenders only to see the ball go high at 33:31.

Nearly a half hour later, Engineer freshman Erik Herrera (San Diego, CA) sent a shot to the keeper's breadbasket at 62:24, and off the crossbar at 64:39. Senior Frank Ciliberto (Spencerport, NY) had a laser pushed away at 85:36.

WPI enjoyed the 13-7 advantage in shots while Roger Williams was awarded two of the game's three corner kicks.

Sophomore Rufus Adams (Duxbury, MA) stopped two shots for the Engineers and sophomore James Lee (Sudbury, MA) halted six for the guests.

WPI hits the road for the first time since September 5 as the Crimson and Gray are at Emerson Saturday for a 1pm start. Roger Williams returns hosts Emmanuel at noon.
