WORCESTER – Eastern Connecticut's Will Toomey (Willington, CT) notched the lone goal in a 1-0 win over host WPI in a non-conference men's soccer match Wednesday night at Alumni Field.

With the win, the Warriors improve to 2-0 while the Engineers move to 1-1.

Toomey sent the ball to the upper right corner of the net for his first goal of the season and third of his career, with 4:30 left in the first half. Patrick Agyemang (East Hartford, CT) was also credited with a shot on-goal as Ryan Sirois (Tolland, CT) paced the Warriors with four of the team's seven shots on the night.

In all, the hosts took 18 of the 25 shots overall and 6-2 on target. Mark Calnan (Winchester, MA) led WPI with four shots, including a pair on-net, followed by Luke Reiniger (Rowley, MA) and Francesco Valagussa (Arlington, MA) with three apiece. The Crimson and Gray were also awarded six of the game's eight corner kicks.

Kyle Boutot (Tolland, CT) stopped six shots for ECSU and Rufus Adams (Duxbury, MA) halted one for WPI.

The Engineers welcome UMass Boston for the final contest of a three-game season-opening homestand Saturday at 3pm. ECSU hosts Lasell at 1pm, also on Saturday.
