Standish, ME --- Liam Setterlund (Holden, MA) scored his first career game-winning goal in the 65th minute and Rufus Adams (Duxbury, MA) stopped four shots as the WPI men's soccer team halted St. Joseph's (ME) regular season unbeaten streak with a 1-0 triumph in a non-conference match Monday evening at the SJC Athletic Complex. Setterlund's fourth career goal was setup by Franco Bazzini (San Juan, PR) at 64:31.

With the win, WPI, the sixth-ranked team in tomorrow's United Soccer Coaches New England poll, improves to 9-2-4 and SJC, the eighth-ranked team in the same poll, slips to 12-1-2. The Monks owned the second-best GAA in Division III (.415) prior to the contest and entered the night with a 57-0-6 ledger dating back to early 2016.

WPI, who began the game with the best GAA across all three divisions (826 teams) with a .268, has now registered six consecutive clean sheets and has not allowed a goal in 684 minutes and 39 seconds. The Engineers have also not allowed a goal in October (six matches, 560 minutes). Division I Virginia touts a .302 GAA and Division II boasts a .378 GAA.

Adams, who was named as the NEWMAC Defensive Athlete of the Week prior to the game, saw his counterpart, David Walbridge (Hampden, MA), also make four stops on the evening. Only SJC back Michael Wildes (Winslow, ME) had multiple shots on-goal with two. Fellow back Noah Robinson (Wappingers Falls, NY) also registered a shot at Adams, as did forward Kuma Onyejose (East Greenwich, RI).

WPI had the 7-4 edge in shots, including 4-2 on-net at the half while the hosts held the 12-10 margin in shots after 90 minutes. The Engineers, meanwhile, finished with a 5-4 differential in shots on-goal. The Monks were also awarded three corner kicks in the second half compared to the one awarded to the guests in the opening frame.
