Framingham, MA --- The WPI men's soccer team defeated Framingham State by a score of 3-0 in non-conference action Saturday morning at a sunny Maple Street Field.

The Engineers got on the board in the 7th minute junior Franco Bazzini (San Juan, PR) finished a well-executed give and go with freshman Alejandro Clermont-Delgado (San Francisco, CA) to jump out to a 1-0 lead.  As the Rams were attempting to stall to end the half a mishandled ball in the Rams box led to freshman Matthew McLellan's (Hopedale MA) first collegiate score to send WPI into the break up 2-0.

After hitting the cross bar a couple times the visitors scored again when senior Evan Hallberg (Glocester, RI) settled a corner kick sent in from Matthew Biando (Duluth, GA) and sent in over a diving Rams keeper. The Rams had an opportunity to get on the board when Gabe Padilla (Framingham, MA) headed a long cross in front  of the goal that went just over the crossbar.

The Engineers controlled most of the offense of the game, recording 13 shots, 8 of which were on goal, while the Rams only put up 4 shots..  Sophomore keeper Ryan Martin (Douglas, MA) earned the shutout win in net for WPI.  Sophomore Jake Hartshorn (Chelmsford, MA) took the loss for the Rams making four saves before giving way to freshman Joseph Sturzo (Lowell, MA) for the final twenty minutes.
