Hererra and Hendrick Register CoSIDA Academic All-District Team Accolades

CoSIDA All District - WPI Men's Soccer 2021

WORCESTER – WPI men's soccer senior back Erik Herrera (San Diego, CA) and junior goalkeeper Roe Hendrick (Nashua, NH) have been selected to the Men's Soccer Academic All-District team, as voted upon by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) members from Massachusetts and Maine. The duo now advances to the national ballot for Academic All-America consideration.

The 2021 Academic All‐District® Men's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA

Hererra noted a selection for a second time after earning the nod in the fall of 2020 for the Crimson and Gray. The two-time selection started in 16 games this season as crucial piece in the backline that contributed to the 0.90 goals-against average throughout the 2021 campaign. Hererra calculated a 3.69 grade-point average in mechanical engineering whilst earning a minor in business.

Fellow engineering teammate, Hendrick, did not start logging minutes in goal until the sixth game of the season for the Crimson and Gray. In 12 games played with 11 starts, the netminder clocked in for 1033:10 maintaining a 0.96 goals-against average, totaling 38 saves marking a .776 save-percentage mark. Hendrick recorded a 6-3-2 record while in between the pipes for WPI with four-individual shutouts. The junior goalkeeper posted a 3.84 grade-point average in mechanical engineering.

To be eligible for all-academic honors, a student-athlete must be a starter or a key reserve, maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 on a scale of 4.00, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standings at his/her current institution and be nominated by his/her sports information director. First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early July.
