WORCESTER -- The WPI women's swimming and diving team came out on top in each and every one of its dual meets against Babson, Brandeis, Simmons and Smith on Friday night. The Engineers ousted Simmons by the widest margin, 218-63 while also defeating Smith 173-120, Babson 163-123 and Brandeis by a slim 143-139 margin.
WPI picked up a pair of individual victories and 24 top-5 finishes during the meet.
Katherine Pawlak (Westford, MA) picked up both of the Engineer individual titles on the day. First, when she paced the pack in the 100 Breast in a time of 1:08.34. She was joined by teammate Elinor Ross (Brandon, VT) who crossed second in 1:11.30.
Next, Pawlak touched the wall first again in the 50 Free with a time of 24.61. Teammates Leah Kolb (Canton, MI) and Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MI) joined her with top-5 finishes taking fourth (25.93) and fifth (26.12) respectively.
Both relay teams finished second in their respective events. The 200 Medley Relay squad of Morgan Foltz (North Easton, MA), Ross, Molly Sykes (Falmouth, MA) and Pawlak earned the second place finish in 1:52.71 while the 200 Free Relay team of Dino, Keira Franz (Colorado Springs, CO), Kimberly Hazeltine (Stratham, NH), and Foltz finished in 1:41.73.
Val Corrente (New York, NY) took second in both the 1 and 3-meter dives at the event finishing with a score of 157.90 in the 1-meter event and 162.15 in the 3-meter dive.
The Engineers return to the pool on Saturday, Nov. 6 with another dual meet against Coast Guard at noon.
