Women's Swimming & Diving Concludes Dual Meet Slate with 12 Victories in Triumph at Clark

WORCESTER --- The WPI women's swimming and diving team earned the victory in its final dual meet of the season in dominating fashion with a 208-88 victory over crosstown rival Clark on Tuesday evening. 

The Engineers picked up 12 first place finishes, out of 16 events, while totaling 38 top-3 finishes on the evening, including a clean sweep in nine different events. 

The Engineers swept both of the relays on the evening taking first, second and third place in both the 200 Medley relay and 200 Free relay. The WPI 'A' squads finished the medley relay with a time of 1:54.08 and was comprised of Morgan Foltz (North Easton, MA), Sophie Chretien (Winchendon, MA), Katherine Pawlak (Westford, MA), and Keira Franz (Colorado Springs, CO). The free relay team finished in 1:42.67 and was made up of Chonlada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA), Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MO), Pawlak and Elinor Ross (Brandon, VT). 

In addition to her relay victory, Foltz also added a pair of individual titles on the evening, while teammate Leah Kolb (Canton, MI), also scooped up a pair of first-place finishes. 

Foltz touched first in the 100 Fly with a time of 1:00.37 and rounded out individual competition with a 200 IM victory in 2:14.71. Kolb came away with a pair of freestyle wins, first hitting the wall in 2:05.67 in the 200 Free followed by a 500 Free win in a time of 5:39.13. 

Also pickin up individual victories are Kirsten Stevens (Reading, MA) who finished first in the 1000 Free in a time of 11:44.30, crushing her nearest competitor by 15 seconds, Ross who took the 50 Breast in 31.68 and Franz, who sprinted to the 50 Free title in 26.40. As well as Dimascolo who earned the 100 Free in 57.39, Cretien who picked up the 100 Breast title in 1:12.57 and Pawlak who earned a 50 Fly sin in 26.94. 

Val Corrente (New York, NY) finished second in both 1-meter and 3-meter dive with scores of 188.35 and 169.15 respectively, improving greatly from his scores the last time out. 

The squad will be back in action this Saturday, Jan. 29 in its final event before the NEWMAC Championships when it hosts the Tech Sprints beginning at 10am.
