Day Two of NCAA Swimming and Diving Championships Sees Pawlak Continue to Shine

Indianapolis, IN --- Katherine Pawlak (Westford, MA) finished second in her heat as the WPI senior took part in her middle event on the second day of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at the IUPUI's IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Swimming Thursday morning in heat three of the women's 100-yard butterfly preliminaries, Pawlak touched the wall in a time of 56.19 to place second in her race of eight and finishing 28th out of 54 overall competitors in the event. 

Pawlak placed better than her seed for the second day in a row, as she entered Thursday's action seeded 33rd, clocking a time of 56.06 at the NEWMAC Championships on February 18th.  She posted a 50-yard split time Thursday of 26.40 before covering the final half of the event in a blazing 29.79, quicker than the three swimmers just ahead of her. 

After a day off, Pawlak will wrap-up her participation in the championships on Saturday competing in the preliminaries of the 100-yard freestyle.  The sessions starts at 10am.
