Katherine Pawlak - WPI Swimming & Diving 2022

Indianapolis, IN --- WPI's Katherine Pawlak (Westford, MA) placed 31st overall in the 100-yard freestyle as the senior wrapped up her participation Saturday on the final day of the NCAA Division III Swimming and Diving Championships at IUPUI's IU Natatorium in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Pawlak, the NEWMAC champion in the event, covered the first 50 yards in a time of 24.66 before coming home in the final 50 in a time of 27.00 for a final mark of 51.66.  She entered the event seeded 30th after posting a time of 51.30 at the NEWMAC Championships on Sunday, February 20th at MIT.

Saturday marked the end of Pawlak's incredible senior season in the pool.  She became the first WPI women's swimmer to win two events at the NEWMAC Championships and to participate in the NCAA Championships.  Earlier in the week in Indianapolis, Pawlak finished better than her seed when she placed 20th in the 50-yard freestyle (school record 23.51) and 28th in the 100-yard butterfly (56.19).

Pawlak now turns her attention to the track, where she is a standout sprinter on the outdoor track and field team.  WPI swimming and diving will kickoff the 2022-23 campaign in October.
