Women’s Swimming and Diving takes 3 of 4 Dual Matchups in Friday Night Quintuple Meet

WORCESTER -- In a quintuple meet against the likes of Brandeis, Babson, Coast Guard and Smith, the WPI women's swimming and diving squads earned victories in three of the fourth dual meet matchups defeating Brandeis, Babson and Smith and falling to the Bears.  

WPI defeated Smith by the largest margin, 186.00-109.00, downed Babson 174.00 to 116.00 and eked out the win over Brandeis 147.00-145.00. Coast Guard earned a 192.00 to 103.00 win over the Engineers.  

The women's squad finished with 30 top-10 finishes including a trio of victories, two coming from Leah Kolb (Canton, MI) who touched the wall first in both the 100 and 200 Back and a first-place finish from Katrina Yurista (Laramie, WY) in the one-meter dive.  

Kolb earned her first win of the night in the 100 Back with a time of 1:00.12 before standing on top of the podium in the 200 with a time of 2:13.30, her fastest times of the season.  

Yurista took home first with a score of 219.90 in the one-meter dive before finishing third in the 3 meter dive with a 190.10 finish. Madeleine Hoffman (Sudbury, MA) placed fourth in the 3-meter dive with a total of 148.05.  

Morgan Foltz (North Easton, MA) came away with three second place finishes as well as a third-place result, earning a spot on the podium in each of her races on the night. First, in the 200 Free, she finished with a time of 1:59.92 as teammates Andrea Wu (Redmond, WA) and Lada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA) touched in fifth and sixth respectively. Next Foltz raced to a 25.57 second, third-place finish in the 50 Free.  

In her next race, Foltz and Wu went 2-3 with times of 54.74 and 54.91. Finally, Foltz rounded out the night as the lead-off leg of the 400 Free Relay as the team of Foltz, Kolb, Molly Sykes (Falmouth, MA) and Wu finished in 3:39.22 to close out the competition.  

Wu also finished with a top-3 result in the 100 Fly touching the wall in 59.91 while Sykes garnered a fourth-place finish in the 400 IM in 4:58.48.  

The squad is back in action next Friday night on Nov. 11 when they head to Southern Connecticut at 6:30pm.
