WORCESTER -- The WPI women's swimming and diving teams swept the first 11-straight swim events en route to defeating Clark on Tuesday night at the Sports and Recreation Center.
The WPI 200 Medley Relay teams took 1-2-3 in the opening events of the evening as Anna Callaghan (Yorktown Heights, NY), Elinor Ross (Brandon, VT), Andrea Wu (Redmond, WA) and Lada DiMascolo (Puyallup, WA) led the way with a 1:53.04 finish.
Dimascolo took the top spot in the 200 Free with a time of 2:01.04 while Caitlyn Swartz (Pepperell, MA) came in second in 2:09.29 and Irene Fisher (Foxboro, MA) took the bronze in 2:10.62 .The 100 Back featured victory from Morgan Foltz (North Easton, MA) in 1:01.80 while Rachel Tsang (Acton, MA) earned second in 1:03.03 and Callaghan rounded out the top-3 in 1:05.20.
The 100 Breast saw the top spot go to Adrianna Yuen (Grafton, MA) with a time of 1:14.22 while Sophie Chretien (Winchendon, MA) finished in second in 1:15.44 and Fisher crossed with a time of 1:15.62 as the Engineers went on to capture the top five spots.
Kaitlyn Grove (Cheshire, CT) took the 200 Fly victory with a time of 2:24.24 while Ross cut 0.41 seconds off of her season best in the 50 Free with a time of 25.92 while Audrey Dino (St. Louis, MO) clocked in at 26.15 and Molly Sykes (Falmouth, MA) finished in 26.18.
Wu earned another win in the 100 Free with a time of 4.22 while Kristina MacLeod (Jackson Holt, WY) took second in 57.82 and Callaghan completed her busy night with a third place finish in 59.20. Swartz took the win in the 200 Back in 2:23.96 and Yuen swept the breaststroke with a 200 Breast victory in 2:45.28. Fisher netted second in 2:45.73 and Herbstzuber finished third in 5:32.19.
Dimascolo wrapped up her competition in the 500 Free with a time of 5:27.14 with Foltz clocking in second in 5:31.84 and Herbstzuber in third in 5:32.19.
The Engineers raced in an exhibition status for the remainder of the competition with Wu the actual victor in the 100 Fly (1:00.43), Ross in the 200 IM (2:19.56) and the 200 Free Relay team of Foltz, Ross, Wu and Sykes in 1:41.52.
Katrina Yurista (Laramie, WY) took second in both the one meter (215.92) and three meter (225.97) dives.
WPI will look to keep the momentum going when they are back in action in the Menck Invitational on Saturday, Jan. 28 at 2pm at the Sports and Recreation Center. Clark returns to the pool against Brandeis also Saturday at 2pm.
