Women’s Indoor Track and Field Second at Tartan Invitational

Northampton, MA --- WPI Women's Indoor Track and Field combined their efforts for a second place finish at the Tartan Invitational hosted by Smith on Saturday. Amherst won the event with 214 points, while the Engineers scored 205. Also competing were Smith (123), Mount Holyoke (48), Wellesley (43), Lasell (31), Assumption (25), Siena (23), American International (19), CCRI (19) and St. Joseph's (10).

Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) won the 55-meter hurdles in 8.84, an improvement on her ECAC and New England Division III qualifying time.

The 55-meter dash saw Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) cross the finish line first (7.65). The sophomore also took the 200-meter dash in 26.69.

Caroline Allen (Norton, MA) was victorious in the 400-meter dash (1:03.74) and Kristine Zeeb (Nashua, NH) won the 600-meter run (1:46.32).

In the 800-meter run Caitlin Rush (Nashua, NH) posted a ninth place finish (2:41.32), while Stacey Rauen (San Gabriel, CA) raced to a 3:18.38 for sixth spot in the 1,000-meter run.

Vicky Hewey (Sanford, ME) ran a third-place 5:11.97 mile.

Finishing fifth in the 3,000-meter run was Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) as she completed the event in 11:38.71.

The quartet of Allen, Joan Keyes (Plymouth, MA), Olivia Shepherd (Kingston, MA), Jacqui Foti (Hopkinton, NH) placed third in the 4x200-meter relay (1:56.46) as the 4x400-meter relay team of Allen, Amira Yusif (Leominster, MA), Zeeb, Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) won with a 4:13.17.

Hewey, Rauen, Rush, Emily Dudley (Woburn, MA) ran the 4x800-meter relay in a third-place time of 10:33.83.

The 4,000-meter distance medley team of Babeu, Kayla Schutte (Oakland, ME), Lauren Waring (Wilmington, MA), and Catherine Duffty (Haverhill, MA) combined for a 14:38.20 to finish second.

Emily Hartzell (Brunswick, ME) cleared 2.77 meters for second place in the high jump, while Jill Perreira (Lancaster, MA) was ninth in the high jump (1.37).

Sarah Cook (New Paltz, NY) was fifth in the triple jump (10.04) and sixth in the long jump (4.76).

Krista Baker (Medway, MA) continued her domination in the shot put and weight throws with 12.31 and 15.51 meters, respectively.

Women's Indoor Track and Field ventures to the BU Invitational on Friday afternoon and MIT on Saturday.
