New York, NY --- Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) won the ECAC Championship in the 400-meter dash as select WPI Women's Indoor Track and Field athletes competed at the New York Armory on Friday and Saturday. WPI finished 22nd as The College of New Jersey took home top honors as a team.
Richard raced to a 57.17, an improvement over her time that won the New England Division III title, to win the event. The time is also resets the WPI record board for the 400. Because the performance was on a banked track, the time is converted and is currently 16th in Division III.
Krista Baker (Medway, MA) finished seventh in the weight throw to earn All-ECAC honors as she heaved it 51-5. Baker launched the shot put 36-11 for 17th spot on Friday.
Also on Friday, Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) placed 10th in the pentathlon with 2697 points as she finished fourth in the 55-meter hurdles (9.04) and the high jump (4-11). The sophomore also earned points in the long jump (9th – 14-7.75), 800-meter run (9th – 2:41.74) and the shot put (10th - 23-2.75).
Selections for the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship meet are scheduled to be released on Monday at 9am on NCAA.com
