Richard and Eagle Strike Gold for WPI Women's Track and Field at Wesleyan Invitational

Middleton, CT --- Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) captured the 200 and 600 meters and Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL) won the high jump to highlight WPI's performance Saturday at the Wesleyan Invitational III in Middleton, CT.  The meet was a non-scoring event.   

Richard posted a winning time of 26.19 in the 200 and 1:41.07 in the 600.  Amira Yusif (Leominster, MA) chipped in with a fourth place showing in the 200 (27.24).  Eagle seized the high jump crown with a height of 5-3.75 while Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) was ninth at 4-9.75.

Emily Pearce (Avon, CT) had a strong day for the Crimson and Gray, placing second in the pole vault with a height of 10-6 and fifth in the long jump with a leap of 16-1.75.  

The Engineers enjoyed success in the 60 meter hurdles with Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) finishing fourth with a time of 9.60 and Pumphrey eighth at 10.33.   Amy Babeu (Groveland, MA) crossed the line fourth in the 3,000 meters while Kimi Joback (Bedford, NH) capped a solid outing with a fifth place throw in the weight throw (43-0.50) and a eighth place heave in the shot put (32-11.75). 

Maria Grandoni (Framingham, MA) and Hannah McCallum (Lafayette, CO) each registered sixth place times. Grandoni turned in a time of 2:30.76  in the 800 meters while McCallum crossed the line in the 5,000 meters in 19:54.54.  Maya Rhinehart (East Longmeadow, MA) and Caitlin Rush (Nashua, NH) racked up ninth place showing in the 400 meters (1:03.54) and 1,000 meters (3:17.50) respectively.    

WPI is back in action Friday at BU's Terrier Invitational.
