Record-Setting Weekend for Men’s and Women’s Track & Field

Boston, MA --- WPI Track and Field set five new school records and tied a sixth at the All-New England All Divisions Championships held Friday and Saturday at Boston University.

Adrianna Davis (Chelmsford, MA) placed 12th with a time of 9.18 in the 60-meter hurdles.  In Friday's preliminaries Davis broke the school record, also previously held by her, with a time of 9.13.  She is currently ranked 26th in the country in this event.  Kelsie Lazaro (Somerset, MA) posted a new benchmark in the 500-meter dash with a time of 1:18.89, while Julie Tevenan (Weymouth, MA) set a WPI standard in the 1000-meter crossing the finish line at 3:02.05. 

Joey Collins (Standish, ME) led the Engineers in the 200-meter with a school record of 22.5.  Teammate Thomas Kostelak (Bernardsville, NJ) garnered the indoor track record in the 800 with a time of 1:56.33.  The finish was a personal best for the sophomore. 

Laura Pumphrey (East Hampton, CT) placed 8th and earned All-New England status in the high jump.  The sophomore soared 5-7 to tie the WPI record. 

Collins and Stephen Kocienski (Schaghticoke, NY) both ran season best times in the 400.  Kocienski finished in 11th place with a time of 49.42 and Collins ran for 49.79 and a 20th place finish.  In the women's 400, Noelle Richard (Oxford, MA) also posted a season best time running 58.42. 

Other Engineers competing included Julie Eagle (Rock Island, IL) and Jameel Galloway (Randolph, MA) who jumped 5-3 and 6-2.25 respectively.  Wesley DeChristofaro (Woonsocket, RI) competed in the long jump and leaped 22-0.25. 

Track and Field returns to action Saturday, March 2nd at the ECAC Championships at the Armory in NYC.
