SUMMER REWIND: Packard Earns Spot in D3 Indoor 800m All-Time Top 10
July 30, 2018Birmingham, AL --- Sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) handed in the 10th-fastest time in Division III history en route to being named an All-America in the 800-meter run at the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships Saturday. -
Staver and Strangio Pace Track & Field With Fourth USTFCCCA Academic Nod
July 26, 2018New Orleans, LA --- Warren Staver (Centreville, MD) and Lea Strangio (Watertown, MA) each collected their fourth USTFCCCA Track & Field All-Academic honor as a total of 13 student-athletes were recognized for both their athletic performance and work in the classroom. Abby McAdams (Montville, CT), Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA), Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) and Aaron Weeks (Pittsfield, MA) all earned back-to-back nods. The teams were also lauded for their combined GPA for the 11th consecutive year. -
WPI Men Second, Women Third in NEWMAC President Cup Standings
June 04, 2018Westwood, MA --- For the third consecutive year WPI finished second in the Men’s NEWMAC Presidents Cup standings while the women placed third, as announced at the conference's annual meetings by WPI President Laurie Leshin along with NEWMAC President and WPI Director of Physical Education, Recreation and Athletics Dana L. Harmon. -
WPI Honors 11 Major Award Winners During Annual Athletic Banquet
May 31, 2018WORCESTER – The WPI athletic department recently honored all of its 20 varsity teams which encompasses over 600 student-athletes at its annual awards banquet. During the festivities, 11 student-athletes were presented with major awards. These accolades highlight some of the best varsity student-athletes at WPI who excel both in the classroom and in their respective sports. -
Strangio and Packard Named to Women's XC/T&F Academic All-District Team
May 29, 2018WORCESTER – WPI senior Lea Strangio (Watertown, MA) earned a third Google Cloud Academic All-District® I Women’s Track & Field/Cross Country Team honor, as selected by CoSIDA. Sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) was also recognized by the sports information directors in Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont. The chemical engineering majors are now on the ballot for Academic All-America consideration. -
Packard Fourth at NCAA Track & Field Championships, Secures Third All-America Honor

May 24, 2018La Crosse, WI --- WPI’s men’s 4x400-meter relay placed sixth in its heat and 11th overall on the first day of the 2018 NCAA Division III Track & Field Championships. -

May 17, 2018Cambridge, MA --- Both men’s track & field relays set a new school record as four individuals, including three women, achieved a season or personal best Thursday at the MIT Final Qualifier. -
Two Records Fall as Track & Field Programs Compete at All-New England Championships
May 12, 2018Dartmouth, NH --- The men’s 4x100 and 4x400-meter relays and seven individuals, including sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA), finished in the top eight to earn All-New England honors as the WPI track & field programs competed at the All-New England Championships Friday and Saturday at Dartmouth. The relay set a school record with a runner-up time and Packard reset the women’s 800-meter run standard as the teams placed seventh and 33rd, respectively. -

Chabot Collects Fourth NEWMAC Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year Honor
May 03, 2018Westwood, MA --- Head Coach Brian Chabot has been named as the 2018 NEWMAC Men’s Track & Field Coach of the Year. He has now earned seven such honors from his peers, including both men’s and women’s laurels in 2016 and the NEWMAC Women’s Cross Country Coach of the Year honors this past fall. -

Track & Field's Hannah Schulz Recognized as the Outstanding Member of the Class of 2021
April 27, 2018Each year, WPI recognizes first-year students for excellence in their academic work with the designation Charles O. Thompson Scholars. These students are eligible to compete for a scholarship by submitting an essay that completes the picture of their contributions to the WPI community. We received 72 wonderful essays this year from 339 eligible students. -

April 14, 2018New London, CT --- Sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) reset her own 1,500-meter run record as the WPI women’s track & field team handed in a number of personal and season bests en route to a sixth place finish at the Silfen Invitational. -
4x400m Relay Shines as Men’s Track & Field Places Fourth at Silfen Invite
April 14, 2018New London, CT --- The 4x400-meter relay delivered a victory as the WPI men’s track & field team amassed a plethora of season and personal bests in a fourth-place effort at the two-day Silfen Invitational. Friday featured the Elite Distance portion of the event comprised of the fastest seeded heats of the steeplechase, 800m, 1,500m, 5,000m and 10,000m. -
