Medford, MA --- Graduate student Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) and junior Ryan Wittenberg (Bedford, NH) bettered their NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship qualifying times as select members of the WPI track & field program took part in the Tufts National Qualifier Saturday inside the Gantcher Center.

Scott, who came into the week 11th on the performance list, landed at No. 13 in the mile despite handing in a converted time of 4:09.87 while Wittenberg clocked a school-record 1:52.81 (1:51.22 converted) to move from 11th to fourth on the 800-meter run leader board.

Senior Warren Staver (Centreville, MD), sophomore Alex Rus (Newton, MA), senior Paul-Henry Schoenhagen (Cleveland Heights, OH) and Wittenberg are on the 4x400 bubble after collaborating to post a converted time of 3:16.96. Junior Antoine Harris (Southington, CT) ran a PR of 7.02 in the 60-meter dash.

The women's distance medley relay consisting of senior Emily Newman (Easton, MA), senior Maggie LaRoche (Silverlake, NH), senior Lea Strangio (Watertown, MA) and sophomore Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) appeared to have survived a nerve-wracking day off as the quartet now occupies the final qualifying spot. Individually, Packard is currently third in the 800-meter run and seventh in the mile.

Participants will be declared tomorrow and the official NCAA invitations are slated to go out on Monday morning.
