DMR Highlights Women's Track and Field's Performance at Cupid Challenge

Medford, MA --- WPI's distance medley relay composed of Grace Hadley (North Reading, MA), Janelle Knight (Goleta, CA), Lauren Kaija (Reading, VT) and Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) not only won the 2020 Cupid Challenge hosted by Tufts University on Saturday, but posted the best time of 12:03.22 in Division III this season. 

The Engineers competed in the meet at Tufts, which also featured MIT, UMass Lowell, Brandeis, Wesleyan, Trinity, Amherst, Middlebury, American International and Connecticut College in the non-scoring event. 

Lora Dufresne (Sutton, MA) opened up the meet for the Engineers with a fourth-place finish in the 600-meter run in a time of 1:42.79. WPI recorded two top-ten times in the 1-mile run where Charlotte Kokernak (Niskayuna, NY) took ninth in 5:20.68 and Callie Schadt (Brewster, MA) took tenth in 5:20.75. 

The track events finished up with a ninth-place finish in the 3000-meter by Ari Rozen (Carver, MA) in 10:30.18 and a tenth-place finish in the 5000-meter by Kaylee Gladu (Woonsocket, RI) in 19:13.67. 

Abby McLean (Holden, MA) led the Engineers in the pole vault with a height of 2.95 meters for a seventh-place finish followed by teammate Keira Coulard-Smith (Gardiner, NY) in eighth with a height of 2.80 meters. The field events were rounded out by a tenth-place finish in the shot put by Allison Kloeckner (Shelburne, VT) with a throw of 10.20 meters. 

WPI has a pair of meets next weekend, heading to the BU Valentine Invitational on Friday and traveling to Williams for the Field & Track Invitational on Saturday.
