Westwood, MA --- WPI track and field graduate student Oliver Thomas (Goffstown, NH) earned NEWMAC Men's Track and Field Athlete of the Week in addition to the women's 4x100-meter relay crew garnering Women's Track and Field Relay of the Week honors in back-to-back weeks for the week ending on April 10th.
Thomas dropped a 14.52 in the 110-meter hurdles logging the fastest time in NEWMAC competition, the east region, and the third-fastest in all of NCAA Division III efforts, leading to the event title at the Springfield College Classic on Saturday. The Crimson and Gray's 4x100m relay posted a runner-up finish with Thomas as the anchor clocking in at 42.30 for the best in the conference times and second-fastest in the region. Thomas rounded out the day with a third-place finish in the 200m crossing the line at 22.73.
Katherine Pawlak (Westford, MA), Janelle Knight (Santa Barbara, CA), Vivienne Evans (Newton Square, PA) and Katy Nippert (Salem, NH) joined forces to win the 4x100 relay at Springfield in a season-best 47.36 time to lead the conference and region while currently ranking second in NCAA DIII.
The Crimson and Gray will be back in action at the UMass Minuteman Invitational on Saturday, April 16th.
