Worcester, MA --- Tournament MVP Emily Reilly (Marlboro) paced all players with 24 points to help Clark win the 32nd annual Worcester City Women's Basketball Tournament with 59-53 triumph over host WPI on Saturday.

The Cougars, who won the crown for the 20th time overall and first since 2008, is now 2-0 while WPI, the two-time tournament champions, is now 1-1.

WPI's Kelly Morgan (Brookline, NH) drained a 3-pointer with 11:23 remaining to give the Engineers a 46-43 lead. After a Cindy Chelius (Northfield, NJ) free throw pushed the lead to four,  Clark scored 15 of the next 16 points, including six by Reilly, until WPI's next made field goal with 28 seconds left.  Over the nearly 11 minute spurt, it was the Cougar defense that took over, forcing the Engineers to miss 13 straight field goal attempts and commit six turnovers.

The first half was a back-and-forth affair that featured six lead changes and four ties.  Clark took a 29-27 advantage into the locker room at the break on a Brooke Breenan (Weston, MA) 3-pointer with 54 seconds to go in the stanza.

Reilly and Breenan were the only two visitors in double figures.  Reilly grabbed eight rebounds to go along with her 24 points on 8-of-14 shooting from the floor.  She also was productive from the free throw line, draining 7-of-9 freebies.  Breenan tossed in 15 points to go along with five boards.  Ashleigh Condon (Hull, MA) filled the stat sheets for the Cougars with nine points, eight rebounds, six steals and three assists while Megan Grondin (Cumberland, ME) added six points.

Dani Davis (East Granby, CT) and Morgan each established new career-highs in scoring for WPI.  Davis canned four 3-points en route to totaling 18 points while Morgan knocked down a trio of trifectas to register 15 points. Davis capped a strong all-around game with nine rebounds, four assists, four steals and three blocks.  Siena Mamayek (Melrose, MA) led all players with 12 boards and Chelius ended with eight points and seven rebounds.

For the game, Clark converted 18-of-23 (78.3%) free throws while WPI shot just 33.%3 (2-of-6) from the charity stripe.  The Engineers did however enjoy a 20-5 bulge in second chance points.

Join Reilly on the All-Tournament team were Condon, Davis, Morgan, Meaghan O'Keefe (Warren, MA) of Worcester State and Tatiana Mojica (Worcester, MA) of Becker.  Earlier Saturday, Worcester State defeated Becker 72-48 win in the consolation game.

Both teams head to the road Tuesday for non-conference contests before the Thanksgiving holiday.  WPI is Connecticut College at 8pm while Clark is in Boston to take on Simmons at 7pm.
