Freilich Stars for Wrestling at Roger Williams Quad

Bristol, RI --- Junior Alex Freilich (Worcester, MA) won all three of his bouts as the WPI wrestling ventured to Roger Williams on Saturday for a quad match with Brockport State, Western New England and the host Hawks.  The Engineers (8-11) fell to Roger Williams 35-13 in the opener, dropped a 34-6 decision to Brockport State in the middle match and fell to Western New England 27-18 in the finale.  

In the finale, the Engineers led 18-15 after eight bouts following Freilich's 7-0 victory at 197 pounds but a pin and forfeit in the final two weight classes doomed the Crimson and Gray.   Tyler Tilbe (Woodbury, CT) won by decision at 141 pounds while Andrew Tanner (Danville, NH) notched a first period pin at 165 and Justin Marsh (Upper Black Eddy, PA) had his arm raised following a forfeit at 174 

WPI jumped out to a 4-0 lead in the opener against Roger Williams after a Brian Jennings (Danbury, MA) 17-4 major decision at 133 pounds.  Following six straight wins by the hosts, Freilich collected a pin at 6:40 at 184 pounds and heavyweight Joseph Szerszunowicz (Milford, MA) closed out the scoring for the Engineers with a 10-4 win at 285. 

Marsh and Freilich provided the points for the Boynton Hillers against Brockport State.  Marsh posted a 3-1 triumph at 165 pounds and Freilich registered a 4-2 win at 184. 

WPI closes out the dual meet season on Saturday with a trip to top-ranked Springfield at 7pm.
