Marsh Set for NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships on Friday and Saturday

WORCESTER -- Sophomore Tyler Marsh (Upper Black Eddy, PA) begins competition Friday in the NCAA Division III Wrestling Championships hosted by Baldwin Wallace in Cleveland, Ohio.  The 157-pounder earned his trip to Ohio by finishing second in the Northeast Regional hosted by WPI the last weekend in February.

Marsh is the third WPI wrestler to compete in the nationals under head coach Steve Hall and will look to be WPI's first All-America since Brian Amato (Newington, CT) earned the honor at 125 pounds in 2015.  All-time the Engineers have had nine different wrestlers take home 12 All-American awards.

Marsh is 31-5 on the season with 13 pins.  He begins action in the 18-wrestler bracket with a first round match-up with top seeded Ryan Epps (38-1) from national powerhouse Augsburg (MN).  Action for Session I begins Friday morning at 11am.

A victory would give Marsh a match-up in the quarterfinals with eighth-seeded Egan Berta of North Central (IL) or Seth Vosters from Wis.-Eau Claire, while a loss would pit him against one of four wrestlers, including Berta, Vosters, Michael McIntire of Mount Union or Kevin Edwards from Messiah on Friday evening.

Marsh's participation in the NCAA Championships caps a strong season for the Engineers.  Ranked nationally for most of the season, No. 21 WPI posted an 18-4 dual meet record, placed second in the 17-team Northeast Regional and third in the 16-team New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Dual Meet Championships in January.
