  • Thatcher, Cook, Powers and Adam Marsh Post Multiple Wins for Wrestling at NEWA Duals

    Providence, RI --- Four different WPI wrestlers registered multiple victories as the WPI wrestling team went 1-3 and finished 12th at the 2022 New England Wrestling Association Dual Meet Championships hosted by Johnson & Wales on Sunday. Tanner Thatcher won three times while Ryan Powers, Chris Cook and Adam Marsh were each triumphant twice on the day.

    While WPI manages a very high number of COVID cases on campus and works to protect the health and safety of our campus community, we are temporarily unable to allow external spectators at WPI home athletic events.

    WORCESTER -- WPI freshman Tanner Thatcher has been named as the New England Wrestling Association (NEWA) Rookie of the Week for the week ending Sunday, January 16th. 
  • Thatcher's Hat Trick of Wins Highlights Wrestling's Performance at the Trinity Quad

    Hartford, CT --- Tanner Thatcher won all three of his matches as the WPI wrestling competed at the Trinity Quad on Saturday afternoon.  The Engineers fell to No. 11 Johnson & Wales 42-11 in their opener before dropping a 37-15 decision to the host Bantams and succumbing to Roger Williams 44-6 in the finale.

  • Five Straight Pins Held Guide Wrestling to 44-7 Road Victory at Plymouth State

    Plymouth, NH --- Tommy Dell'Aera, Ryan Powers, Adam Marsh, Lucas Wilson-Wuestefeld and David Gibson registered consecutive pins to propel WPI to a 44-7 road triumph at Plymouth State in the Jim Aguiar Invitational.  The Engineers were victorious in their first match of 2022 and move to 1-4 on the season while the Panthers fall to 0-1 after their first dual meet of 2021-22.

    Providence, RI – The WPI wrestling squad faced NYU and NJCU in matches at the Johnson & Wales quad match located in the Wildcat Center this afternoon.
  • Dell'Aera, Thatcher and Gens Reach the Podium for Wrestling at RIT Invitational

    Rochester, NY --- Tommy Dell'Aera and Chris Gens placed third in their respective weight classes to highlight WPI Wrestling?s showing Saturday at the 55th annual RIT Invitational.  The Engineers amassed 68.5 points on their way to an eighth-place finish in the 16-team event won by the host Tigers, which totaled 168.5 points.    
  • Late Norwich Spurt Spoils 2021-22 Home Debut for WPI Wrestling

    WORCESTER -- Kyle Merritt capped a late Norwich rally with a second period pin to lift the visiting Cadets to a dramatic 24-19 victory over WPI in the Engineers 2021-22 home opener Saturday afternoon in the Sports and Recreation Center.   The Cadets are now 1-1 on the young season while the Engineers slip to 0-1. 
  • Riggs and Cook Post Third Place Showings as Wrestling Finishes Fifth at Racich Rumble

    Collegeville, PA --- Tyler Riggs and Chris Cook turned in third place performances for WPI wrestling as the Engineers ventured Saturday to Ursinus to participate in the Racich Rumble.  As a team, the Engineers had a strong showing, placing fifth in the 12-team field. 
  • Thatcher and Gens Bookend Wrestling's Season Opener with Victories at Coast Guard

    New London, CT --- The WPI wrestling team kicked off its 2021-22 campaign on Saturday afternoon in unusual fashion, competing in a dual meet as opposed to its traditional season-opening invitational.  The visiting Engineers were on the short end of a 36-6 decision to nationally-ranked Coast Guard. 
  • 2021 WPI Athletics Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Postponed

    WORCESTER -- Due to COVID-related restrictions on indoor gatherings, the WPI Poly Club Athletics Hall of Fame induction scheduled for Friday, September 17th has been postponed. A new date in 2022 will be announced later this fall. Those that have already registered for the event will be contacted in the next two weeks regarding their refund. Please direct any questions to athletics@wpi.edu.
