Hartford, CT --- The WPI women's rowing team made its 2022-23 season debut at the Head of the Riverfront Regatta on a cloudy, cool and windy Sunday. It marked the first time since the 2018-19 campaign that the Engineers started their season at the Hartford event.
The Crimson and Gray used several unique combinations of boatings as WPI hosts a pair of regattas sandwiched around the iconic Head of the Charles later this month. The Engineers two entries in the Open Eight notched back-to-back placings of 19th and 20th. The B boat posted a time of 14:38.25 to just edge the time of 14:39.05 amassed by the A entry.
The Open Four also saw two entries for the Boynton Hillers. WPI's A boat was fifth in the 23-boat race in a time of 15:29.30 while the B entry crossed the finish line in a 15th place of 17:07.95.
WPI will make is home debut in two weeks in the Quinsigamond Snake Regatta which racing slated for Saturday, October 15th in the lake that straddles the city of Worcester and the town of Shrewsbury.
