Woman's Soccer Shut Out 2-0 at Home by Gordon in the Rain

Worcester, MA --- Caitlin Nedde (Colchester, VT) and Hannah Midwinter (Somerset, MA) each netted a goal to lift Gordon to a 2-0 shutout over host WPI in a non-conference women's soccer matchup on Tuesday. The win improves the Fighting Scots to 2-0 on the season while WPI falls to 0-2.

Gordon struck in the 13th minute while following a corner kick headed in the box. Kendra Woudenberg's (Whitinsville, MA) original shot was cleared off the line by WPI goalkeeper Maddie Willer (Penfield, NY) but Neddle knocked home the rebound for her second goal of the season.

Both teams had quality scoring chances late and Gordon added an insurance marker with just 20 seconds left in the contest on a blast off the foot of Hannah Midwinter (Barkhamsted, CT) from 65 yards out when the WPI goaltender was up to play an offensive  corner kick.

WPI outshot Gordon 13 -7 in the contest led by Emily Doherty (Shrewsbury, MA) and Megan Forti (Lynn, MA) with four and three shots respectively.

Gordon goaltender Kari Christensen (Standish, ME) recorded five saves while notching her second straight shutout of the young season. Willer (Penfield, NY) was credited with three stops for the Engineers.

The Engineers will take to the field again on Saturday when they travel to Fitchburg State at 10am. Gordon returns to action on Thursday when they take on Suffolk at 7:30pm.
