Lindsey Grasis

Boston, MA --- The WPI woman's soccer team scored a goal in each half to defeat Emerson 2-0 on the road Wednesday night handing the Lions their first loss of the season. With the win the Engineers improve to 3-4 on the season while Emerson drops to 4-1-1.

Lindsey Grasis
(East Brookfield, MA) got the scoring started for the Engineers when she collected a rebound off the post from a Megan Forti (Lynn, MA) shot that she deposited in the top right corner. The goal by Grasis in the 36th minute was her first of the season and the third of her career.

The Crimson and Gray came at EC full throttle, putting up nine shots in the first half with Allie Altman (Thousand Oaks, CA) collecting six saves while Emerson was only able to put up four of their own.

WPI added to their lead in the 72nd minute when a corner kick was headed into the net by sophomore Alex Dustin (Spencer, MA) for the first goal of her career.

The Engineers defense was tough throughout the contest allowing a miniscule three shots on target all of which were denied by goaltender Maddie Willer (Penfield, NY) for her second shutout of the season and the eighth of her career.

WPI will take to the road next as they travel to conference rival Babson Saturday at 1pm. The Lions will also travel on Saturday for a 2:30pm game at St. Joseph's (ME).
