Boston, MA --- Kristen McCrea (Weymouth, MA) netted two goals and a pair of assists and Leah Beauton (Colchester, CT) chipped in with two goals to guide the WPI women's soccer team to a 5-0 decision over host Wentworth in a non-conference match Tuesday night at Sweeney Field
The win pushes the Engineers record to 6-1 as the Leopards dip to 3-4 on the year.
McCrea's six points prompts adjustments to the WPI record book as the senior jumps from fourth to second with 90 points, moves into a tie with Meg Forti third with 33 goals, and passes Jamie Szafarowicz for second with 24 helpers. The previous six-point outburst was a hat-trick was just over a year ago versus Worcester State (Sept. 11, 2018).
After netting what proved to be the game-winner in the 22nd minute, McCrea went on to score at 62:10. She then assisted on Beauton's second goal in the 65th minute and a Sofia Orrico (Bethel, CT) marker less than two minutes later.
Mandy St. Germain (Worcester, MA) stopped seven shots for WPI while Allison Haynes (Shelton, CT) halted six for the hosts. Only Molly Donahue (Quincy, MA) had multiple shots for Wentworth with three overall and two on-net.
The Engineers outshot the Leopards 16-9 while both teams were awarded four corner kicks.
WPI begins NEWMAC play on Saturday hosting Clark at 1pm. Wentworth enters CCC action Saturday with a noon start versus Gordon.
