WORCESTER --- WPI women's soccer graduates Jenna Hirshfeld (Reston, VA) and Sofia Orrico (Bethel, CT) have been selected for the New England Women's Intercollegiate Soccer Association (NEWISA) Senior Bowl. NEWISA is unable to host a game this fall due to COVID restrictions and concerns.
Hirshfeld held a valuable role as she started in all but two games this season for the Engineers that finished with an 11-6-3 overall record. The Crimson and Gray alongside the veteran back established a 0.97 goals-against average mark with 10-team shutouts, eight of the contests resulted in a full-time victory. The veteran back finished her career with 60 starting nods out of 72 total games played while in the Crimson and Gray uniform.
Orrico started in every matchup as she led WPI with six goals and five assists to a total 17 points this fall. Marking a .558 shot-on-goal percentage, the goal scorer came in clutch with a trio of game-winning goals this season on the pitch earning a NEWMAC Co-Offensive Athlete of the Week on October 25th. The Connecticut-native logged 61 starts in 80 appearances accounting for 19 goals and 14 assists in her career as an Engineer.
