Women’s Soccer Names Hirshfeld as Fifth CoSIDA Academic All-American

WORCESTER --- WPI graduate back Jenna Hirshfeld (Reston, VA) marks the second-ever individual to be listed on the Academic All-America second team and fifth individual overall for WPI women's soccer announced by the College Sports Information Directors Association (CoSIDA) on Wednesday afternoon.

The 2021 Academic All‐District® Women's Soccer Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All‐America® program separately recognizes soccer honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.

Hirshfeld claimed her spot in program history after receiving her third CoSIDA Academic All-District® women's soccer honor in mid-November and is now listed as the second Engineer to be named to an Academic All-America® Women's Soccer Division III second team.

The graduate back was a foundational piece to the Crimson and Gray backline as she started in 18-of-20 games this season finishing with an 11-6-3 overall record. Hirshfeld and crew established a 0.97 goals-against average mark with 10-team shutouts, eight of the contests resulted in a regulation victory for WPI.

The Virginia-native has earned and calculated a 3.98 GPA throughout her chemical engineering undergraduate journey continuing into her management graduate courses at WPI as she goes in as the second in program history to acquire the trio of nods from CoSIDA behind Hailey Taylor '11.

Other noted program winners of the CoSIDA Academic All‐America® honors are Lynn Worobey 08' (Third team), Hailey Taylor '12 (Second team), Emily Doherty 16' (Third team), and Mandy St. Germain 20' (First team).
