Providence, RI --- The WPI women's volleyball team fell to Western Connecticut, 3-0 (25-11, 25-15, 25-15), and Regis, 3-0 (25-16, 25-18, 25-22), on Saturday as the team competed on the final day of the Johnson & Wales Invitational.
Seniors Holly Ganser (Seward, AK) and Sarah Cook (New Paltz, NY) combined for 11 of the Engineers 19 kills as Cook tacked on eight digs in the opener against Western Connecticut. Freshman Caroline Meyer (Easton, MA) doled out 14 assists and rookie Cassandra Tomerlin (La Quinta, CA) posted a dozen digs.
The nightcap saw sophomore Adrienne Weishaar (Chester, NH) pace the Engineers with 10 kills in the versus the Pride. Ganser added six kills and along with freshman Maddy Werth (Bedford, MA) recorded eight digs apiece. Freshman Lucy Garvey (Westerly, RI) pitched in with nine assists.
For her strong play in the two-day event, Ganser was named to the All-Tournament team.
WPI returns to NEWMAC action with a trip to Babson on Tuesday. First serve is slated for 7pm.
