BOSTON -- The WPI volleyball team lost for the second straight time on Saturday afternoon, falling to Emerson 3-0, dropping the match 25-12, 25-12, and 25-21 to their NEWMAC rivals.

A 7-0 run early in the first set gave Emerson an 11-4 lead that they would never relinquish. WPI was able to trade off points during the middle of set, but Emerson went on to close out the set turning a 17-11 advantage into a 25-12 victory. Scott led the way for Emerson in the first set rallying off 10 serves in the set that resulted in nine points.
In the second set, the two teams were neck and neck until Emerson took a 10-9 lead and made it a 17-9 ballgame, this time utilizing the serve of Davis. WPI was able to get a few points back, but Emerson rallied off five-straight points to end the set with another 25-12 win.
In the third set, WPI battled right until the end and after an ace by Reynolds, a kill by Olivia Deckers (Marlboro, MA), and a pair of Emerson attack errors, had a 13-8 advantage. WPI would make it as much as 17-12, but Emerson chipped away at that lead a few points at a time and Davis' serving came in handy once again turning a two-point deficit into a three-point advantage and ultimately the 25-21 victory.
