Cailyn Straubel was named head volleyball coach at WPI in March of 2022.
Straubel arrived at WPI after coaching both women's and men's volleyball at Colby-Sawyer in 2021-22. She guided the women's program's return to the court after the pandemic and was also at the helm of the men's team in the spring.
Before coaching at Colby-Sawyer, Straubel served as the Interim head coach at Brandeis during the 2020 spring season through COVID closures. She was an assistant for the Judges for the three seasons, including in 2018 when she was a member of the UAA Coaching Staff of the Year after helping Brandeis post its best season in the past decade. Straubel got her start in college coaching at Williams where she was an assistant for the women's program and the head coach of the men's club program.
Straubel was a four-year starter at Connecticut College, where she was captain for her junior and senior seasons. In 2012 she helped Conn College finish with its best record in program history, which included the number one seed in the New England regional, a NESCAC regular season Championship, and a visit to the second round of the Division III NCAA tournament. Straubel graduated Cum Laude with Distinction from Connecticut College with a degree in Human Development.
