Gorham, ME --- The WPI Men's Cross Country squad ran to an eighth-place finish on Saturday morning at the Southern Maine Invitational. MIT captured the meet with 37 points and Bates (86) edged Bowdoin (87) to round out the top three.
Junior Ryan Moran (Pembroke, MA) once again paced the WPI harriers and crossed the finish line 28th (26:24.20), just over half a second in front of senior Robert Hollinger (Averill Park, NY) (26:24.74). Sophomore Tobin Dancy (Shrewsbury, MA) completed his race in 26:54.67 (43rd).
A pair of freshmen were next in line for the Engineers as Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) was 53rd (27:01.89) and Nathan Stomberg (West Greenwich, RI) was 77th (27:23.86). The junior duo of Patrick Murphy (Danvers, MA) and Andrew Zayac (Plymouth, MA) rounded out the WPI top seven in 84th (27:26.65) and 94th (27:35.30), respectively.
The Engineers have a chance to claim the program's 20th connective Worcester City Meet title on Saturday at 10:30am.
