Boston, MA --- Senior Robert Hollinger (Averill Park, NY) posted a top-10 effort and earned All-NEWMAC status as WPI finished third at the NEWMAC Men's Cross Country Championship which was hosted by Babson on Sunday at Franklin Park. MIT captured the team crown with 18 points and Coast Guard was second (44) as the Crimson and Gray collected 96 points.
Hollinger paced the Engineers with a ninth-place time of 26:00.68 as the WPI top-seven finished in the top-35. Freshman Austin Scott (Waddington, NY) crossed the finish line 21st (26:35.91) and junior Andrew Zayac (Plymouth, MA) completed his race in 25th (26:47.66).
Freshman Nathan Stomberg (West Greenwich, RI) (26:58.10) and junior Ryan Moran (Pembroke, MA) (27:01.92) came home 29th and 30th while sophomore Tobin Dancy (Shrewsbury, MA) was 32nd (27:03.23) and junior Joe Kelly (Brooklyn Park, MN) clocked a 35th-place time of 27:05.19.
WPI heads to the ECAC Division III Cross Country Championship meet on Saturday at Colt State Park in Bristol, RI hosted by Roger Williams.
