Women's Cross Country Places Sixth at Worcester City Meet

Paxton, MA --- The WPI women's cross country team placed sixth in the annual Worcester City Meet on Saturday morning hosted by Worcester State at Moore State Park. Assumption snapped the Engineers streak of six consecutive titles with 25 points. The Crimson and Gray, who are in the midst of a four weekend stretch of competition, rested their top runners in advance of next week's Paul Short Run at Lehigh.

Freshman Jasmine Higuera (Riverside, CA) paced the Engineers with a 21st-place 22:59. Sophomore Julia Smith (Cranston, RI) followed with a time of 23:38, good for 28th. Sophomore Gabriela Meza (Wilmington, CA) crossed the finish line in 31st (23:43) while senior Steph Lindow (Medford, WI) was 36th (24:05) and sophomore Michelle Henderson (Wantagh, NY) was 37th (24:08). Senior Samara Garcia (Fairfield, ME) clocked a 25:42 for 49th and sophomore Theresa Inzerillo (Nashua, NH) was 68th (27:49).
