Boston, MA --- The WPI women's cross country team came home 31st overall and fourth amongst Division III teams at the All-New England Championships hosted by the NEICAAA Saturday at Franklin Park.
Regional No. 11 New Hampshire took the team crown with 71 points followed by national No. 29 Harvard (137), Vermont (152) and Northeastern (157). NEWMAC foes No. 2 MIT (159 points) and regional No. 8 Wellesley (550) were fifth and 23rd, respectively while regional No. 10 Bowdoin (483) placed 18th.
Junior Jasmine Higuera Castillo (Riverside, CA) was the only Boynton Hiller in the top 100 with a 90th-place 19:16.5. Freshman Callie Schadt (Brewster, MA), sophomore Steffany Halfrey (Hubbardston, MA) and senior Liz Hansen (Richmond, RI) were the next three Engineers to cross the finish line in times of 20:08.1, 20:15.9 and 20:24.8. Sophomore Carly Neeld (Williston, VT) posted a 21:50.5 as senior Julia Smith (Cranston, RI) turned in a 21:56.3 and junior Emma MacIntyre (Grand Island, NY) followed with a 22:18.1.
The Engineers travel to Harkness State Park Saturday for the Connecticut College Invitational.
