Hadley Finishes Ninth, Draws All-Conference Praise at NEWMAC Women's XC Championships

Wellesley, MA --- Junior Grace Hadley (North Reading, MA) earned All-NEWMAC honors as the WPI women's cross-country team placed fifth at Saturday's NEWMAC Championship hosted by Wellesley at Nehoiden Golf Club.

No. 12 MIT posted 34 points for its 14th straight conference title. Wellesley (63 points) came in second and Smith (79) placed third. Mount Holyoke finished fourth (91) and WPI, who is ranked No. 5 in the USTFCCA New England Regional Poll, posted 113 points to finish fifth. Coast Guard (154 points) finished sixth, followed by Springfield (205), Wheaton (234), Emerson (287), Clark (293), and Babson (317).

Hadley completed the 6K course in 23 minutes, 04 seconds for a ninth-place finish. She shaved 1:03 off her time from last year, while also improving by 24 spots. 

Junior Elise Deshusses (Chapel Hill, NC) was two spots shy of an All-Conference showing, finishing 19th with a time of 23:33. Classmate Kaylee Gladu (Woonsocket, RI) clocked in at 23:49 to finish 27th, and freshman Michaela Hafford (Holliston, MA) came in 30th with a time of 23:56.

Junior Charlotte Kokernak (Niskayuna, NY) finished 34th, sophomore Caitlin Guilfoyle (Hastings-on-Hudson, NY) 45th, graduate student Sydney Packard (Georgetown, MA) 48th, senior Nicole Whipkey (Portland, ME) 50th, freshman Elie Bowman (Montville, CT) 61st, senior Kaelyn Foss (Thomaston, CT) 80th, sophomore Deidra Anderson (Billerica, MA) 88th, senior Emma Hartzel (Littleton, MA) 96th, sophomore Abigail Hodges (North Easton, MA) 102nd, and freshman Emma Carroll (Rochester, MA) 104th.

WPI heads to Franklin Park for New England Regionals on November 13.
