Lansing, MI --- Seniors David Reynolds (Andover, NH) and Brian Brooks (Brewster, MA) made their return to the 2022 NCAA Division III Cross Country Championships held at Forest Akers Golf Course hosted by Olivet (MI) on Saturday afternoon.
Reynolds, an NCAA DIII East All-Region honoree, recorded his third-consecutive trip to the national championship race with an individual stint in 2019 and as a part of the Crimson and Gray squad that was selected for the race in Louisville in last November. Brooks, a fellow All-Region selection, logged his second-straight appearance to the final race this fall.
Out of 32 teams and 292 runners, Reynolds placed 178th with a 26:29.4 time in the 8k course and Brooks finished 235th crossing the line at 26:57.6 at Forest Akers Golf Course where the temperature reached a high of 26 degrees and a low of 17.
Reynolds led the Engineers as the first to finish throughout all races this fall while claiming a NEWMAC Cross Country Runner of the Week and NCAA DIII East All-Region honor in addition to a spot in the NCAA DIII Cross Country Championship.
The seasoned veterans paced the Crimson and Gray to a pair of second-place and sixth-place team finishes this fall including the runner-up spot at the NEWMAC Championship behind MIT and sixth-overall at the NCAA DIII East Regional Championship meet.
Fellow NEWMAC program MIT took home the 2022 NCAA DIII Cross Country Championship with a team score of 82 points as Sam Acquaviva (Newburyport, MA) and Ryan Wilson (Redwood City, CA) placed third and fifth overall to lead the Engineers of Cambridge to the national title. Wartburg was the runner-up with 129 points and SUNY Geneseo recorded 168 points for third.
